Maintenance

  • Don't wear it in a wet state beyond 6 hours.
  • Don't iron.
  • Don’t dry it in a space with no sunlight, or in a closed or non-ventilated space.

A user can dump the product into a medical waste bin near a medical clinic or similar place from where the absorbent underwear can be treated as medical waste (such as it may go into an incinerator and get converted into ash).

If getting a medical waste bin is difficult then one can consider discarding/ dumping it in a similar manner any user would have considered for their other generic undergarments.

How to use

Phase 1: Wear & usage

Absorbent underwear can be put on just like any regular underwear.

It can be used as a primary menstrual product (solely to absorb menstrual blood) or as secondary/ protection absorption product to absorb any kind of discharge through the vulva.

It is advisable to avoid wearing absorbent underwear as a secondary/ protection menstrual product beyond 12 hours in a dry state, & beyond 6 hours in a wet state.

Phase 2: Soak

After removal of absorbent underwear, the user has to drop/ store them in cold water (for 5-15 minutes if done instantly or for 20-25 minutes if delayed) to soak or rinse them.

Phase 3: Wash

If machine washing, one has to first place them in a washable mesh bag & wash on the delicate or gentle cycle. To make your underwear last, one may consider hand-washing with a mild detergent.

If scrubbing, then scrubbing has to be very gentle.

Phase 4: Dry

Washed absorbent underwear has to be hung under sunlight,  in an open & dry space, to help maintain the fabric's integrity.

Dryer has to be avoided; & ironing is a strict no.

Phase 5: Reuse/ Store

After drying, the absorbent underwear can be reused, or stored in a dry space for the next usage.

FAQ

Yes, purchasing a few absorbent underwears can completely replace disposable generic sanitary napkins throughout the day and also the complete menstruation cycle.

Leftover fluid / discharge can start to grow bacteria and may cause many foul odours. To avoid this, one has to make sure to rinse and wash away all traces of fluid / discharge before drying it under the sunlight.

One can, but it is not best advised. In order to prolong the lifespan of absorbent underwear, the best thing one can do is dry them with natural air in dry space having sunlight.

Not really!

A leakproof menstrual swimwear is made to be worn in the pool while one is menstruating.

Usually absorbent underwear in itself isn’t made to be used as swimwear, so no they solely can’t be worn in the pool or when swimming, while menstruating.

Yes, they are recommended for pregnant women. In fact, many women find them to be invaluable both before and after childbirth. They’re ideal for postpartum bleeding and are softer and less irritating than disposable generic sanitary napkins or liners.

Yes, absorbent underwear breathes better than the plastic material that most disposable generic sanitary napkins and liner are made from, and should not contribute to an overgrowth of yeast.

It is possible to wear absorbent underwear every day, usually recommended in situations where one needs that extra protection.

Some people find that the absorbent or generic underwear with the waterproof lining aren’t as breathable as they’d prefer, and so they wouldn’t want to wear those regularly when the situation doesn’t require it.

Overall, it’s a matter of personal preference.

Absorbent underwear is an excellent item for menstruators to start wearing during adolescence when they are expecting to start menstruating (menarche) and beyond till menopause or incontinence, for different use cases.
